Crown Floral actually started when the designer, Wenonah (Toney) Marlin got her first taste of floral design as a member of the National Champion Marshfield High School FFA Floriculture Career Development Event Team. While preparing for this contest she spent time in local flower shops and was hooked. She loved flowers and the creativity of design, but most of all she loved the look on the face of the person who was receiving the floral art. Working out of her mother’s kitchen, she started doing work for friends and family. After a few months the orders got out of hand and mother wanted her kitchen back, so together, Wenonah and her parents, Deal and Donna Toney, opened a small shop in Marshfield, MO, called Crown Floral.

Wenonah Marlin graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Horticulture and has taught floral design at Ozarks Technical Community College. She has also conducted clinics for high school agricultural education teachers through MSU.
